For Terri

  • Jul. 15th, 2009 at 9:06 AM

Terri, here is your daily smile :-) This picture makes me smile too!

I'm feeling so much better today.  I think I have finally kicked the virus to the curb!  My voice is still wonky but my energy has returned and coughing is at a minimum. It's a cold damp morning here. Feels/looks more like October. We had glorious thundershowers last night. They interfered with Tom's viewing of tthe All Star game. But he did catch Joe Mauer's performance. We loves us some Twins!

Today also appears to be my "Friday" as I couldn't get a couple of clients to schedule this week.  I've got phone calls to make this morning and a new family to prepare for this afternoon.

I got my hair permed yesterda after work. Man she cut it so short! So it's short and frizzy and in need of color. It looks greyer since it's permed.  But it will settle down. I just forgot to mention that I wanted it colored as well as permed when I made the appointment. So will have to go back.

I've been hooked on a new author since John and Angie gve us a stack of books by one of their favorite mystery writing teams. Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child with the recurring character Detective Pentergast. Fantastic reads!! We're quickly going through the stack! We';re going to have to find the older ones to read too!

Well, I'd better get to work! After work today I'm going to finish cutting out Ashlyn's christening gown and start sewing.

i hate you and i'm not getting a manicure

gah, i need to make a banner for my etsy store and it's been so long since i used photoshop, i'm unsure how to use it. gah. i also don't know what to call my store. "cydniey's pretty things for people"?

i'm also waiting for M to get home so i can talk to him about taking me to see my therapist and taking me out to my shrink two days in a row to get doc's FMLA paperwork filled out. maybe that can be done via fax. but i can see my therapist once a month until the end of the year. and i miss him (my therapist) he's the only one i can talk to. doc and M are like good time boys. i can talk to them but i can't get any response from either.

after threatening me to get my hair combed out or get it shaved tonight, i got it combed out. i've been growing it out for years. i should dye it too. he wants to cut off the ends, that i've already trimmed three inches off of. i need a hair cut but i don't think doc is the person for it. i think he's just trying to scare me. nice. the more i try to grow up, the more he puts me in a child's role.

since i can't work electronically until i find a name for my store, i think i'll cut out and sew some goddesses. i hand sew them because my sewing machine doesn't work. they aren't huge, hand sewing is fine.

that's my dog up there

i talked to the billing person from my shrink and she had billed the wrong company. $635 off my back. still that's a lot of money for 15 minutes. i should have stayed in college. i could be a completely dysfuncuntional interior designer. and charge many monies per hours. not like my shrink, but many monies.

now is the time to get doc into a school. something online. it relies on my etsy stuff. i swear i'll sit down and do some listings today. i can list two goddess dolls and some jewelry without dealing with the camera. it hates me. maybe i can fix the little one. trade memory cards and see if i can get the pictures and such off of it. i think i have some videos to youtube. but in the meantime i have pictures of stuff to use.

i forgot some stuffing for the dolls. i have a few old pillows that have gone through the wash and come out not looking so good. the stuffing was all balled up.

it occurs to me that the biller got it right the first time, it's just the second time she fucked it up. i put the information on the billing sheet. spaz. people are so very strange.

i found my cameras. and *everything else*, too!
becoming more and more settled. trying to get used to not just a new (and wonderful) home, but also a new lifestyle. i'm not sure i will call it "wonderful" yet - as i have not yet seen my new reduced paycheck. it *will* be scary, that i know. i know i know, i *should* have pictures of my new home, but ... interior photography is so uninspiring to me. i will eventually, i'm sure. everything is as orderly as it is going to get for now. i have been playing with my poet on some weekends, doing a little exploring and trying to get my vampire eyes back in order. hard work. at home, i do not have internet access, which is a very strange thing to get used to, and i *am* experiencing a little ... er ... withdrawal. i am not sure if it is going to fit into my new reduced budget, plus i DESPISE our singular local option - sunflower cable. i added the amount of $$ i had paid them in penance fees for not having a television and it came to about $1200 for the last 10 years. ENOUGH!! sometimes i can bootleg a little on my little breezeway porch. otherwise, i take the Macbook to the library or somewhere with access on the days i need to do office work from home. i like the feeling of being less connected, even though it feels strange. we'll see how it goes.

otherwise, it is summer. my least inspiring season. i have been feeling very calm. and having incredible dreams. reading a lot. and the artTable is ready.

onward!

Well it has been awhile since I posted anything from my journal; So I picked a few pages to share with you guys. I really have been slacking off on the everyday thing--but I think it is more important to write when you have the inspiration and desire to than to just do it to do it.

A few pages )

Journal Dissemination

  • Jul. 13th, 2009 at 10:30 PM
There's plenty of journal pages I'd prefer to never see again, and I certainly wouldn't want future generations reading them.

So I'm sending them to new owners.

Message me with a mailing address if you'd like some journal pages from my weird brain.

Sun

Sunshine is soo good for me.

I haven't been this tan in YEARS. (I don't tan deliberately. I just happened to spend the past 4 days outside.)

I know that everyone says that sun is SO dangerous now and will kill you in like ten unprotected seconds, but I don't buy it.

My soul loves the vitiman D.

Lotion with built-in sunscreen seems to be enough for me, too. (Spf 15.) As long as I stay off a beach, I actually tan, not turn various shades of pink, red, purple. Nice to know.

One more day and then vacation time is over.

Somewhat image heavy.

Animation Masters Thesis LJ

  • Jul. 13th, 2009 at 8:45 PM
Hi guys,

I've started a new lj that I think many of you might find interesting.  I'm a masters student in 3D animation at the Glasgow School of Art, and the blog is the critical component of my master's thesis practical animation project.  I'm going to try and make it a theory-minded work-in-progress review of what I'm doing, literally as I'm doing it.  I'll explain the choices I'm making with the work, why I'm making them, and as much as I can compare and contrast with anything else relevant I get my hands on as part of my research.  Alongside this, I also hope to explore what it means to be an artist criticizing and theorizing, in particular about their own work, and, in a larger sense, what it means to "do" theory with a working knowledge of the creative process itself.

Right now "official" blog installments are planned for the pre-production, modeling and texturing, animation, post-production, and final, overall review stages.  These entries will be tagged "official."  Extra nuggets of theory and critical discussion that don't go along with these official entries will be tagged "theory."  I would also like this blog to become a resource for the animation community here on livejournal, and so I'm going to also post links to helpful tutorials and similar resources where I come across them, naturally with my nutshell opinions thereof.  These posts will be tagged "technical resources."  As far as my own personal areas of technical expertise go, I'm working with Maya 2009 for the 3D animation, shooting reference and special effects film with a Canon mini-DV camera, doing sound in Pro Tools, working with post-production effects in After Effects and possibly Combustion, and editing the whole shebang together with Avid.

Apologies for joining mainly to self-promote!  I'd love to hear any comments anyone has about the project or in general.

Thanks!
Samantha Close

a shout out to eminem. i love his new CD, which took me by surprise.

i have some regular lentils and some red lentils. whatever i make with the lentils, i will add the red lentils last, they are so tiny, cooking them a long time, they will turn to mush. i learned that on gordon ramsay's f word, from a guest cook. i want to make a dahl.

doc got me some free range hummus and kosher garlic naan (that's a joke) he also got me some peanut butter captain crunch, and last night he left the box open on its side and we're having a bug problem so there's no way in hell i will be eating it that. i'm pretty pissed off about that. passive aggresive is alive and well in this house. he'll say he didn't realize he did it. cost of cereal wasted. way to go.

anyway, i'll have my usual five bites of organic cottage cheese for brakfast and maybe a banana.

i'm rambling, so i know i'm probably making less and less sense. so we'll just stop this now.
